Gedroid Planned Features
After some initial feedback, I’d like to state some of the upcoming features so everyone can know some of what to expect. Primarily, GPX file support. There are a small number of stability issues still needing attention. Also some usability enhancements are needed for obtaining your current location. Accuracy can be a problem with the G1 and I’ve got some ideas that should help.
Some of you have pointed out a rounding issue. Currently Geodroid uses GPS coordinate conversion made possible by the Android API. Unfortunately, it only looks at the first four digits of a decimal degree coordinate (which all points are converted to/from). After some quick calculations, the margin of error this may produce is not very large, perhaps 0 – 13ft, but any accuracy gained with the G1 is helpful.
I was just coming here to ask about GPX file support! I’m glad you’re going to add it to a good app.
I used this today with a couple of mates, and I can say, brilliant. My first geocaching experience, and it was awesome. Took us a while to figure our way around as it was dark and we had no street light, only torches. But when we got there, the conventional GPS and the iPhone couldn’t cut it, but with the help of the compass we found it.
I’d love to see the ability to “nickname” waypoints so it’s easier to remember which is which.
At least it works well, which is more than can be said for a lot of android apps out so far.
Just downloaded this in response to a pal pulling out his iPhone and showing off an app called Geocaching. He was most snobby about its integration with geocaching.com, but I showed him the fluxgate compass on my G1 and we called it a draw.
GPX file support is a really good addition.

Great app. Best geocaching app out there, just needs GPX file support
.
Great App! Thanks for putting the work in on this, it’s made for a great caching tool! I noticed that a new version came out recently. Is there any updates in that new version?? Couldn’t tell right off, and there doesn’t appear to be any release notes.
Keep up the good work, and you should ask for donations! I’d totally throw afew bucks your way to support this app. Cheers!
